Hileys Solicitors of Thirsk and Easingwold merged with Harrowells Solicitors on the 1 October 2011.
The combined legal practice promotes itself as 'Harrowells incorporating Hileys' and maintains the former Hileys' offices in Thirsk and Easingwold as well as Harrowells' offices in Haxby, Clifton Moor and in York city centre.
Hileys, which has been established in Easingwold for almost 190 years and in Thirsk for just over 100 years, currently offers advice on business, agricultural, conveyancing, wills and probate matters. The merger enables Hileys' clients to take advantage of the additional services offered by Harrowells such as family law, landlord and tenant disputes, business disputes, personal injury claims and financial planning. The specialist expertise of former Hileys' partners Peter Hannam and Colin Moore will also be available to Harrowells' clients.
Peter Hannam comments: 'The merger enables us to maintain our current excellent levels of service to our local clients whilst also offering access to a wider range of specialist legal advice".
James Scott, partner at Harrowells, adds: "Hileys have a well deserved reputation for providing high quality advice tailored to the needs of clients in the Vale of York. We are delighted to be able to join forces with them. Our combined expertise in the merged practice will put us on track to achieving our aim to become the leading specialist in agricultural law in North Yorkshire".
