Recruitment

Offering excellent advice and great service relies on having people who are skilled, personable and practical – so naturally we take the recruitment and training of our staff very seriously.

Trainee Solicitors

We take up to four trainees each year in January and July and the closing date for 2018 intake will be the 19th September 2017. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

Harrowells recruits on the basis of talent and we are interested in receiving applications from everyone who meets the criteria set out on our Trainee Solicitor Page irrespective of background or where they may have studied.

We welcome applications from both law and non-law graduates together with those who are looking for a change in direction of their career.

Whether you are a LPC Graduate or Student we want to hear from you if you have the qualities we are looking for. You will need to have successfully completed your LPC or be due to complete in June 2018.

The first step is to complete the Application Form and make a YouTube video of no longer 2 minutes discussing a topic you are passionate about (How to upload a YouTube video - instructions). Please forward both in one email to careers@harrowells.co.uk.

Successful applicants will be invited to an assessment day which will take place on the 10th and 12th October at our central York offices.

Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.

If you have any queries in relation to the recruitment process please email the recruitment team at careers@harrowells.co.uk who will be happy to assist.

Focus on staff training & development

With over 120 staff, we are one of the largest firms of solicitors in North and East Yorkshire. Although we pride ourselves in having below average turnover of staff, we do recruit new members of staff from time to time to fill existing posts or to help us in areas where we are further developing our business.

Specific vacancies

We post information about specific vacancies on our job opportunities page when we are actively recruiting. In general terms, we tend to recruit the following kinds of people:

  • Solicitors, Legal Executives and others with significant practical experience who can advise our clients in specific areas of the law
  • ‘Front line’ support staff who can work closely and effectively with our professional advisers and with the clients they serve
  • Other support staff who, ‘behind the scenes’, can help the business run more smoothly and efficient

Personal aptitude

In all cases, personal aptitude is as important as practical experience. The Harrowells ‘difference’ is that we look for practical solutions to resolve the issues faced by our clients..
