What GDPR means for HR

This event has proved to be very popular and is now fully booked. However, you can still contact us to be placed on our waiting list to take advantage of any late cancellations.

Our next breakfast briefing, run in conjunction with Hays Specialist Recruitment, will focus on the GDPR – the forthcoming changes in data protection regulation which will require those with HR responsibilities to start some potentially significant preparation and planning as soon as possible. We will give guidance on the practical steps that HR professionals should be taking now and will need to take in the near future.

Our series of popular seminars aim to provide directors, senior managers and HR professionals with summaries that highlight the key issues that deserve attention and practical guidance on how to tackle them. In the case of GDPR, we will focus exclusively on the aspects that matter from an HR perspective and summarise the preparation that needs to take place to ensure compliance in time for the start of the new regime.

We will explain:

  • Why and how you will need to audit information you hold on current employees, former employees and prospective job candidates before the new regime comes into force
  • What aspects of existing HR policies and procedures will need amending to ensure their compliance with the new GDPR regime
  • Why you will need to ensure the correct handling of HR data by line managers in other functions within your organisation
  • What procedures you will need to set up to deal with Subject Access Requests and Right To Be Forgotten Requests from former employees and others who have contacted the HR function
  • How future changes to your HR systems will need to take GDPR obligations into accou

We will also briefly touch on a number of other recent developments in employment law, by way of a general update, including:

  • The gig economy following Uber’s appeal due to be heard late September
  • Developments on reinstatement of historical claims following the Supreme Court decision in Unison
  • Signposting other significant decisions or developments during September/early October that you need to be aware of

As in previous sessions, we will ensure there is time for questions both during the session and on a ‘one-to-one’ basis afterwards.

These events are very popular so we encourage you to book early to secure a place. Click on the email link under the organiser's name to request a place at the event.
