Emily Turner is a Solicitor in our Commercial team, specialising in Employment Law. She provides practical, clear advice to employers on a wide range of matters, including drafting contracts of employment and workplace policies, managing disciplinary, grievance and absence procedures, and advising on restructuring and redundancy processes. Emily also represents employers in defending claims for unfair dismissal and discrimination in Employment Tribunal proceedings.

Emily also supports employees who are experiencing unfair treatment or discrimination at work, those reviewing employment contracts or seeking clarity on their legal rights, and those negotiating or considering settlement agreements.

Emily is experienced in handling high-profile and complex matters, including being involved in a recent successful submission of a case to the European Court of Human Rights after a niche aspect of employment law was found to be incompatible with Human Rights provisions. It is likely that this matter will be a landmark case leading to changes to UK employment law in future, showcasing Emily’s willingness to challenge the status quo and find innovative solutions.

Emily graduated with a Law degree from the University of Sheffield, where she also completed her Legal Practice Course and a Masters in Legal Practice. She qualified as a solicitor in 2022 and has focused exclusively on employment law since the start of her legal career.

Before joining Harrowells in 2025, Emily worked at a union law firm, where she gained experience handling a broad spectrum of employment law issues across the UK.

Emily is supervised by Matt Rowley, Head of Commercial.
