Marie Horner has been with Harrowells for almost 20 years and has specialised in employment law for the majority of her legal career. She acts for a wide range of clients including private/public sector organisations, owner-managed businesses, charities and senior level employees. She advises and represents organisations in a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, from defending discrimination and unfair dismissal allegations and challenging breaches of restrictive covenants, to providing practical day-to-day HR advice on issues such as internal procedures and redundancy.
Complimenting her knowledge as an employment lawyer, Marie also has a CIPD Advanced Level 7 Certificate in HR Management and is an Associate Member of the CIPD. Marie has been involved with the North Yorkshire Branch CIPD committee for many years, acting as Volunteer Communications' Coordinator on the executive board for much of that time, and is very actively involved with the branch.
Marie regularly speaks about employment law and HR issues at events, for a wide range of audiences from businesses to not-for-profit organisations and charities, and she also provides bespoke in-house workshops for managers on all aspects of employment law.
Marie is a member of the Employment Lawyers' Association and the Industrial Law Society.
