Richard is a very experienced personal injury and clinical negligence lawyer and a member of the specialist SRA Personal Injury Panel. He is one of only a small number of solicitors who has recovered in excess of £1m compensation for individual claims and personally deals with cases relating to catastrophic injury, medical negligence, industrial disease and negligence by other personal injury lawyers.

Recent cases include a claim for a child with cerebral palsy due to errors in his delivery, which settled for the equivalent of £7 million, and a claim for a child with cerebral palsy due to the mismanagement of his mother’s labour, which settled for the equivalent of £20 million.

As Head of Department, he supervises all types of accident, disease and negligence cases.

Richard was appointed as a Deputy District Judge on the North East circuit in 2019.
