Our experience at working with, and for, individuals who have suffered a serious brain injury has made it clear that it is not just the individual that is impacted. Brain injuries change the lives of those who have suffered injury and impact upon the futures of partners, family and friends.
Although many go on to make good recovery from brain injury, some continue to experience the impact for the rest of their lives. In taking on a claim we are beginning a long-term relationship with injured individuals. We may be involved not just in helping with the claim but also in planning rehabilitation and, in the long-term, managing their affairs.
There are many ways that it is possible to provide help and support to brain injured individuals so that they can regain a degree of confidence and independence. We applaud the work of Headway who will be launching a campaign "you, me, and brain injury" in Action for Brain Injury Week between 14th and 20th of May 2018. Once again Headway are putting those directly affected by brain injury at the heart of their awareness raising work.
Information about Headway’s campaign can be found that www.headway.org.uk. There are many suggestions for how you can get involved. One simple but effective option is to share Headway's posts on social media. As they say, "the more noise that we make, the more people we can help".
