New appointments for growing commercial division

Two new solicitors, one a partner, have joined Harrowells' commercial division.

They are partner Paul Burkinshaw and associate solicitor, Matthew Hayward, who follow two senior appointments to Harrowells' commercial division last autumn.

Paul Burkinshaw (pictured far right), who qualified with a national law firm in Leeds in 1992, is a dispute resolution lawyer specialising in construction and property litigation. He also provides dispute resolution services to the agricultural sector, including family-owned farms, where he has a national reputation. Based mainly at Harrowells’ Thirsk office, he will advise clients across North and East Yorkshire.

Matthew Hayward (pictured left), who also joins from a national law firm, concentrates on commercial property and acts for property developers and advises on landlord and tenant issues. He is based at Harrowells’ Clifton Moor office.

The head of Harrowells’ commercial division, Simon Black, a partner who also leads the litigation and dispute resolution team, says: “These two appointments represent a further expansion to our commercial division and demonstrate our commitment to the business community throughout East and North Yorkshire.

“Both appointments recognise the growth of highly-regarded construction and property companies across North and East Yorkshire. Paul Burkinshaw’s considerable dispute resolution experience in agriculture adds to the land and property transaction expertise of Stephen Proctor who joined us last year. This this means we now have a top-class senior legal team supporting this important sector.”
