Congratulations to Amaya Huntly, Private Client Solicitor and Partner at Harrowells, on passing the final stage of her Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) exams and achieving the internationally recognised Diploma in Trusts and Estates.

STEP is a leading global professional body for trust and estate practitioners, promoting the highest standards of expertise through specialist education and training. By completing the STEP Diploma, Amaya has demonstrated an advanced level of technical knowledge and practical skill in trusts and estates, ensuring high-quality advice for clients with often complex personal and family affairs.

The STEP Diploma comprises four advanced certificates: the administration of estates, the administration of trusts, the taxation of trusts and estates, and trust and estate accounting. Together, these modules strengthen technical capability and practical application across all aspects of private client work.

Amaya’s achievement further enhances the strength of Harrowells’ Private Client department, which now includes five STEP-qualified practitioners. This depth of specialist expertise makes the team the largest and most experienced Private Client department in York, and one of the largest in North Yorkshire, reflecting both the growing demand for estate planning advice and the firm’s continued investment in specialist skills.

Having qualified in 2014, Amaya joined Harrowells’ expanding Private Client team in 2024 and advises on a wide range of matters, including Wills, trusts, inheritance tax planning, estate administration and Lasting Powers of Attorney. The wider team supports clients at every stage of life, providing clear, practical advice tailored to individual circumstances.
