York Fashion Week: making the city an attractive destination for locals and visitors
- AuthorPeter Mills
We are long term supporters of Fashion City York, an initiative to co-ordinate the promotion of York’s fashion retailers to locals and visitors alike. The centrepiece of that promotion is York Fashion Week with a series of workshops, runway shows and lectures held at fashion stores and other venues in the city.
An innovation during this year's York Fashion Week (25-31 March 2019) has been the creation of a temporary fashion display and information hub in Parliament Street. Harrowells’ Kirsten Sheppard, associate solicitor and retail commercial property specialist, has been heavily involved in the organisational efforts leading up to York Fashion Week and has been part of the team staffing the Parliament Street information hub.
Fashion City York is part of a wider series of initiatives, co-ordinated by destination management company MakeItYork, to ensure the city is seen as an attractive destination by existing residents, individuals and business looking to relocate to York from other areas, as well as UK and international visitors.
