As of 8 April 2025, the Government has made changes to 195 court and tribunal fees across all areas of law. While 24 fees have decreased, the majority of fees have gone up. The Ministry of Justice have stated that these changes will produce a significant level of additional funding which will go towards improving service delivery, subsidising the cost of related services which fees are not charged for, and reducing the overall cost to the taxpayer.
Several fees within family court proceedings have been affected by this change, and we have summarised the most common fees below. Here is a full list of current family court fees.
Divorce
Applications for a divorce, nullity or civil partnership dissolution have increased to £612 (from £593 previously).
Finances
Applications by consent for a financial order have increased to £60 (from £58), and applications for financial orders other than by consent have increased to £313 (from £303).
Children
Applications for most child arrangements orders have increased to £263 (from £255).
There are still no fees for non-molestation, occupation and domestic abuse protection orders, and the Help with Fees scheme remains available for those who are unable to afford court or tribunal fees.
