Preventing a Festive Fallout

Preventing a Festive Fallout

Christmas can be a stressful time for families, financial pressures and trying to please everyone can take its toll. January is often said to be ‘divorce month’ for this reason, so what can you do to stop your marriage heading in that direction?

Preparation

Be realistic about what you can achieve.  Christmas is usually a two week holiday and there is only so much you can do in that time.Work out a plan with your partner and stick to it. Agree to alternate arrangements the next year if that helps to sort out this Christmas.

Budget

Temptations to spend money at this time of year are huge. Set yourself a limit and stick to it both for the big day itself and for the Boxing Day sales.

Relax

Enjoy time with friends and family but make sure you have time to yourself, and time with your significant other. Make use of the in-laws to look after the children, and share out jobs amongst the family so you don’t have to do everything.

Have a safe and enjoyable Christmas and New Year holiday.
