It is apt that, in the run up to International Women's Day, we mark Jenni Bartram’s formal retirement after a long and very successful legal career.
Over several decades now, Jenni has been a very well-known figure within Yorkshire’s legal world. Here at Harrowells we have been lucky enough to work closely with Jenni since 2020 when she joined our practice as a consultant solicitor, helping us further develop our work within the agricultural sector and support our expansion in Ryedale. Jenni featured many times in our regular column in the Yorkshire Post farming supplement, sharing her valuable insight and long experience with a wider audience.
We thought we would share Jenni’s own reflection on her career:
“On the 26th February 1979, I commenced my solicitor’s training contract at Crombie Wilkinson and Robinson of York and progressed from Articled Clerk (as we were called in those days ) right through to Senior Partner, from which I stepped down in 2019. Along the way, I also served as President of the Yorkshire Law Society in 2010 (the first woman to do so from its founding in 1786!).
In 2020 I joined Harrowells Solicitors and it is from my consultancy with Harrowells that I concluded my career on the 28th February 2025 - a career mainly spent in Agricultural Law and after many happy years spent with some very special colleagues, professional contacts and clients. A very special thank you to my Harrowells friends and colleagues. I wish Katie Daniel and her Agricultural Team all good fortune and interesting cases for the future and know I leave my clients in very wise and knowledgable hands.
Thank you all, it’s been amazing and I suspect my husband and labradors will be very surprised to see me once more! Jenni”
