Harrowells Solicitors is pleased to have advised ceramic sculptor Julian Jardine on the opening of a new art gallery on one of York’s most historic streets, Colliergate.
The gallery will bring Julian’s distinctive wildlife sculptures and carefully curated artwork from other artists to a new audience in York. Harrowells Partner and Head of Commercial Property, Matthew Hayward, acted for Julian on the legal aspects of securing the new lease for the gallery premises.
Julian Jardine is an established ceramic sculptor who has been creating expressive wildlife sculptures for over 30 years. His work is recognised for its detailed modelling and the strong sense of character he brings to each animal form.
The York gallery is Julian’s second location, having been established in Perth in Scotland for some time, as well as selling online and at events around the country.
Alongside his own sculptures, Julian curates artwork from a wide range of artists and makers. His gallery typically showcases a diverse collection of work including ceramics, prints, paintings and glass, bringing together artists from across the UK and internationally.
The new York gallery will continue this approach, offering visitors the chance to discover wildlife-inspired artwork from multiple disciplines in one location.
With its strong cultural heritage and thriving visitor economy, York provides an ideal setting for a gallery that celebrates craftsmanship, creativity and the natural world.
Matthew Hayward said “It has been a pleasure to assist Julian in establishing his new gallery premises. Creative businesses make an important contribution to the character and economy of our city centres, and it’s always rewarding to help bring projects like this to life.”
Harrowells Commercial Property department regularly advise a whole range of businesses and entrepreneurs to establish new premises or secure locations to expand.
We look forward to seeing the new gallery open its doors and wish Julian every success with this exciting new chapter.
