We enjoy being part of the local community, and over the past month, we’ve had the chance to get out, meet people, and support some fantastic initiatives – from inspiring the next generation to cheering on runners and raising money for charity. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to over the last few weeks.
Inspiring the next generation at Joseph Rowntree School
We visited Joseph Rowntree School to chat with Year 12 and Year 13 students about careers in law. A big thank you to the staff there, it was great to see how much effort the school puts into helping students explore their options and think about their futures. We hope we made the legal world a little less intimidating. While law can involve complex rules and jargon, great legal advice is really about people, so strong communication and interpersonal skills matter just as much as legal knowledge.
Fun and fundraising at Oscars curry & quiz night
We had a fantastic evening at The Parvin for the Curry & Quiz Night, raising funds for Oscars Paediatric Tumour Charity. The food was delicious and the quiz was challenging (especially that picture round!). Huge thanks to the team at Oscars for putting on such a brilliant event.
Cheering on runners at the Pocklington Snake Lane Road Race
We were thrilled to sponsor the Snake Lane 10 Mile Road Race in Pocklington this month. With 1,571 runners taking part and lots of supporters braving the chilly weather, it was a brilliant day. It was also inspiring to see so many volunteers helping the event run smoothly. In the lead-up to the race, Sophie Crane from our Private Client department in Pocklington joined YO1 Radio to talk about the event and our involvement. We’re proud to play a small part in such a well-loved community event.
Spring and summer are always busy months for community events, and we’re delighted to play our part. We look forward to sharing more updates on our community activities over the coming months.
