DIY is not best when it comes to your will

The number of wills that are challenged and contested has risen steadily in recent years and, in a large number of cases, badly drafted do-it-yourself wills are the root cause of the problems that arise. Even seemingly straightforward instructions in a will need to be handled with care.

Dealing with a badly drafted will can lead to increased costs (usually far outweighing the costs of a will), not to mention the extra work and emotional strain on loved ones left to deal with it. A professionally drafted will can avoid these issues and leave the family to concentrate on more important matters at what is a difficult time. Asking a fully regulated solicitor or legal executive to draw up your will ensures that it will be corrected drafted and witnessed.

We have made adjustments to our offices in terms of social distancing, hygiene regimes and screens so that if you want to meet to discuss your options when drawing up important legal documents, you can do so. Equally, if you prefer a consultation by telephone or video call, we are perfectly able to progress matters in that way also.

If you would like to find out more about how professional legal advice can ensure you have suitable arrangements in place, please contact our specialist Private Client team.
